When measuring for Roman blinds, it's essential to consider your specific needs and preferences, including whether you want the blinds to be installed in the reveal or wall/ceiling-mounted.
For a reveal measurement, measure the width inside the window reveal from one side to the other at the top, middle, and bottom. Take the smallest width measurement as your final width to ensure the blind fits within the reveal. Measure the height inside the reveal from the top to the bottom at the left, centre, and right sides. Take the longest height measurement as your final height to ensure adequate coverage.
For a face fit or ceiling fix measurement, measure the width from architrave to architrave. Measure the height from the top edge of the coverage area to the desired endpoint, such as the windowsill or bottom of the window.
Take note of any obstructions, such as handles or window locks, that may affect the blind's operation or installation.
Also keep in mind the stack height: If the Roman blinds are raised completely, they will create a stack at the top – which can vary between 23cm-28cm. Consider the stack height and ensure there is enough clearance above the window to accommodate it or the window is big enough that the stack will not compromise your view or natural light.
